Poppyscotland is Scotland’s leading veterans’ charity, ensuring that ex-Service people and their families get the support that many urgently need as they adjust to life on civvy street.

Whether someone is struggling to cope with a catastrophic battlefield injury, or living with emotional scars that haunt them every day, Poppyscotland is there, providing immediate and practical assistance.

Poppyscotland Chief Executive Ian McGregor says: “The 2009 inaugural event brought together the Armed Forces and rugby communities for a day of competition and camaraderie. We want to build on this for 2010 so that participants can enjoy the day and raise vital funds to make a difference to the lives of veterans and injured rugby players.”

Hearts & Balls provide financial assistance and pastoral care to members of the rugby community when the game they love leads to tragedy. When life changing injuries occur, Hearts & Balls help rugby help its own by supporting those in need.

Jim Littlefair, Chairman of Hearts & Balls says: “Rugby brings pleasure and a sense of community to millions of people but occasionally serious injuries occur. This event provides an excellent opportunity for the rugby community to support its own and be actively involved in supporting Scotland’s Armed Forces heroes.”
