A major part of the Hearts & Heroes Challenge is raising sponsorship for our two beneficiary charities. So instead of just getting physical, face the fiscal challenge head on and see how much your team can raise. Remember, there is a prize for the top fundraisers!
We have set a 2011 fundraising goal of £400 for sponsorship which equates to £1,600 per team. Tough but not impossible – download a sponsorship form (PDF) to chart your progress as you take on this challenge.
What can you/your team do to raise sponsorship?
Organise your fundraising in any way that suits you and make sure you have fun doing it! Here are some tips & ideas.
Online Sponsorship
Your online fundraising pages are extra fun and easy this year. Once you’re registered you’re given all the tools you need to set up your customised fundraising page online. Email the link to your friends and family, to make it easy and quick for them to sponsor you. Why not put up some of your training photos or youtube footage and give them a laugh as well!
Sponsorship Forms
Ask people to fill in your sponsorship form (please remember, if they’re a UK tax payer they will have to note their home address and tick the ‘gift aid’ box for us to be able to reclaim the tax on their donation).

Gift Aid it!
Please return any sponsor forms to us to allow us to benefit from Gift Aid
Gift aid is really important because it adds a lot more value to each donation. Encourage your sponsors to tick the Gift Aid box and for every pound they donate, the tax man will give us 28p back with no extra cost to you or your sponsor. It really does make a HUGE difference so remember to ask your sponsors to:
- Tick the box if they are a UK tax payer
- Include their first name or initial and surname
- Fill in their HOME ADDRESS including POSTCODE
Without these details we cannot benefit from Gift Aid.
Raise Even More Money!
If you’re really keen to get everyone involved, promote the cause and raise even more money then you can do all sorts of fundraising activities to help you boost the figures. Here are some ideas.
As a supporter of the Hearts and Heroes Challenge, we trust you to bank the money that you raise. You can either bank the money online through your personal fundraising page or send us a personal cheque for the amount.
Be sure to plainly note your team name and team captain on everything you send us, even online.
